Tips, tricks, and ideas to reference for a simpler, stress-free life
How are you showing up for yourself?
My health has taken much of my focus and attention for the past couple of years due to ongoing health issues. I've needed to show up for myself because feeling better has been my #1 priority…
I’m going global, y’all!
Nearly six years after starting out as a professional organizer, I’m thrilled to announce exciting updates to the services I provide.
I'm going global, y'all!
Sum-sum-summertime!
As a fair-skinned, blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman from Minnesota, I’ve never been a big fan of the sun and the heat. In previous summers, I’d avoid the outdoors as much as possible from sun up to sun down. When we moved to Atlanta eleven years ago, my biggest fear was how to deal with the heat while living in the south.
Memorabilia
In terms of organizing projects, memorabilia can be the most difficult category to tackle. We keep tangible objects to remember an event, a place, an experience, a loved one, or just because it makes us happy.
Tearing it up
As a happy minimalist, I don't keep much memorabilia by choice. I'm not a heartless robot - I just appreciate things/objects as they happen in the present moment and don't tend to hold onto many things.
2019 is my year of…
For those of you who have been following my blog for the past few years, y'all know I've chosen a word that drives my decisions for the year. Doing so has become a powerful way to incorporate a concept/idea/way of thinking into how I go about living/being/doing/supporting/thriving.
Gratitude for the past, present, and future
As 2018 comes to a close, I'm so grateful to have announced on January 1 that this was my Year of Confidence, and now I'm proud to declare I feel much more confident as the result of this mantra. Finding and expressing my confidence in everything I do has helped me to remember how strong and empowered I am. I feel more connected to my inner rockstar. I trust my gut instinct more than ever before.
My year of balance
We're two months into 2017. How are your goals (or resolutions) holding up? Are you still on track?
Last year, my life began to feel more and more unbalanced, so I decided to make this year my year of balance. Each day, I make a conscious effort to ensure I'm filling up my tank with equal parts of physical activity or movement, spiritual wellness or meditation, healthy foods, gratitude, relationship-strengthening, and business-building. By doing this, I'm showing up as a stronger, better, more present organizer for my clients as well as a stronger, better, more present partner for my spouse. (Not to mention a kinder, gentler person to myself and everyone I encounter.)
Kick clutter to the curb
My job as a professional organizer isn’t just about putting things in bins and containers and then slapping a label on each. When a client initially contacts me, they are overwhelmed with their stuff, they are stressed out, and they are incredibly frustrated.
Why I love my job
Throughout my life, I've always wanted to help others. It's why I worked in academia and the non-profit realm for so many years, and why I started my own professional organizing business.
Why I meditate
I try to meditate nearly every day, even if I only have five minutes to do so. I choose to meditate in the morning because I find it sets the tone for the entire day, but occasionally I will also meditate before bedtime.
