How virtual organizing can work for you
Hello, sweet friends. I hope you and your loved ones are well. What a past few weeks it's been! We've all been trying to adapt to an ever-changing situation. I'm so grateful for my daily home yoga and meditation practices, as they've helped to keep the racing, anxious thoughts at bay.
Ever since I suspended all in-person sessions with clients, I've been spending my mornings each day methodically painting my condo, room by room - the walls AND the trim. It's been a project I've been eyeing for months, but until now, hadn't made the time to begin. The physical act of painting and being able to zen out during this project has become another meditative practice and given my mind another focus. Plus, I can see real progress each day, which is always a plus!
And I've been spending my afternoons checking in with clients and loved ones over the phone, text and email to see how they're doing and find out if they need anything.
I've also been working virtually with clients on projects such as task management and productivity, setting up and maintaining a filing system, purging clothing and organizing the master closet.
Some of y'all may be skeptical that online organizing could work for you, but it can be even more effective than in-person organizing for several reasons:
1) It encourages more effective decision-making by allowing for deeper thinking and in-depth discovery.
2) It challenges what we think we know.
3) It enhances our brain’s neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s ability to change and adapt, so we can guide the process of retraining the brain to consider other options and create meaningful change, both internally and externally.
4) It offers and restores a level of control. Instead of being swept along by what happens to us (from the outside in), we can positively affect how we regulate our response (from the inside out).
