Take time to walk in your winter wonderland

“Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening. A beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight, walking in a winter wonderland.” - lyrics from Winter Wonderland, written by Felix Bernard

This little lyrics snippet of a popular Christmas carol perfectly illustrates what being present looks, feels and sounds like. As they walk in the snow, they're taking in the beautiful sights and listening to the sounds around them. What a beautiful description of a winter utopia!

Now that the calendar indicates that many are deep in the throes of holiday shopping mania, I encourage you to step back and be present during this time. Take time to savor every drop of egg nog (or insert favorite holiday treat here). Be sure to make eye contact and listen when your spouse needs to vent about a challenge at work. Smile at a stranger you encounter at the grocery store.

And finally, always, always return to your breath. It brings you to the present every. single. time.

Happy holidays, my sweet friends!
