Choosing to Live With Less

Numerous articles have been written about how millennials are choosing to spend their money on experiences instead of things. Why might this be?

Well, many millennials witnessed their parents and grandparents lose some or most of their life savings when the 2008 crash happened. Many people who planned to retire and enjoy their golden years were forced to continue working, not because they wanted to but because they had to.

As a result, millennials are choosing to travel more frequently and attend live concerts and take cooking classes and go skydiving as opposed to purchasing large amounts of stuff that they then would need to manage.

And this will come as no surprise when I tell you how much I love and appreciate this philosophy! Even though I'm a GenXer, I adopted the idea of choosing experiences over stuff many years ago and I haven't regretted it for a second.

So I ask you, my friends, how are you choosing to spend your time and your money?
